MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA!!

MUSIC LEGENDS!!!

Hey guys I'm here today to share with you some off the legends that were or rather are circulating the music world.....

I am pretty unsure about those legendary guitarist and bassist though however ,I do have plentifull of drummers and bands up for grab!!!*smiles*

HERE IT GOES:

TOP DRUMMERS(The present)
1) Travis Barker

- Born on November 14, in Fontana, California.

- began studying drums and taking lessons at the age of four.

- studied with a jazz teacher and was exposed to many different styles of music.

- In High School, played in the jazz ensemble and marching band.

-Experience would come as a rock drummer in a few early bands such as Feeble, The Suicide Machines, and The Aquabats.
-Travis’s mother died when he was a kid, and his first tattoo was a tribute to her.

-In 1998 Barker's band, The Aquabats, was opening for blink-182.

-Barker asked to fill the drum stool for blink 182 until the end of the tour. Barker had to learn the entire blink-182 set of 24 songs in just a couple of hours.

-A few months later, he was asked to join the band full time

- he accepted the offer

- the rest is history.

NOW ON TO THE
DRUMMING LEGENDS:
1) Buddy rich

-Bernard "Buddy" Rich took big band drumming to new heights, propelling ensembles with a stunning amalgam of endurance, velocity and speed.
- Rich played with balletic precision and elegance that belied his long-time claim of never practicing.
-Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 30, 1917, Rich made his show business debut at 18-months with his parents' vaudeville act, billed as "Traps, The Drum Wonder." He danced on Broadway by age 4, toured Australia at 6 and led his own band when he was 11.
-A consummate player, Rich's prowess ranged from light-as-a-feather sensitivity behind piano trios to a G-force sound in big bands. But it was the latter ensembles that won him recognition.
-Rich began his big band work with Joe Marsala in 1937, followed by gigs with Bunny Berigan, Harry James, Artie Shaw and Benny Carter.
-In 1939, he joined Tommy Dorsey's band, where he cemented his reputation as a big band artist and roomed with singer Frank Sinatra.
-The two -- boasting equal doses of talent and ego -- often clashed but maintained a mutual friendship and respect throughout their careers.
-died from heart failure in Los Angeles on April 2, 1987

2)Mike Portnoy

- born on April 20, 1967
-raised in Long Beach, New York.
- Father was a rock n' roll disc jockey, so I was always surrounded by music constantly. I had this huge record collection when I was real young and loved the Beatles and then later on Kiss.
-Although Mike taught himself how to play the drums, he did take music theory classes in high school.
-During that time he began playing in local bands Intruder, Rising Power and Inner Sanctum, the latter of which released their own album.
-Mike left the band after being awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee Music College in Bostonof rap music.

3)Cozy powell

-Considered to be one of England's best drummers, and very much in demand for rock and pop records
-Almost legendary for a heavy-hitting style that could be made to work with many kinds of rock music, whether for the thundering pop productions helmed by Mickie Most, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake & Powell, or even his own solo work (notably "Dance with the Devil," which was a major English hit in 1973.)
-Began his professional music career in 1965 with the Sorcerers, eventually winding up working with Jeff Beck after Beck left the Yardbirds. In 1971, Powell formed Bedlam, but eventually abandoned this project to produce singles such as "Dance with the Devil." He later formed Cozy Powell's Hammer, which broke up in 1975. After a brief sabbatical, he joined Rainbow, helping to give the band a thundering rhythm section before quitting after four years and four albums in 1980. Always in demand for the drum seat, he alternated between session work and working in a variety of bands, including the Michael Schenker Group, Whitesnake and Black Sabbath, never staying in any one band for very long.
-In 1996, he worked with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green on his long-awaited comeback tour.
-At the time of his death on April 5, 1998, he was recuperating from a foot injury that had sidelined him from touring work with guitarist Yngvie Malmsteen. He was driving on the M4 Motorway towards Bristol when he apparently lost control of his car (due to bad weather), slamming into the center divider of the motorway. He died a few hours later in the hospital. ~

I'm joking it's free to all....

HERe is an account on my doing's lately.

BOARD WALK
Exams can be pretty gruelling sometimes, and in order to breath some fresh air instead of just inhaling the dust flying out from my school books, I decided to catch a walk down the board walk with my mum in the hearts of Macritchie on tuesday the 22 of may .. Filled with the chirps of birds that were soaring in the skies and the fragrants of the flowers that fills the air, what a magnificent place it was ..

POA TEST
MY principles of accounts test that occured yesterday was pretty gruelling... I'm confident of a pass however i'm unsure of distincitions..I could balance all my first three accounts ... however, i was dumb founded as i approach my fourth question as i forgotten the steps to take..
Oh well i guess i'll aim for distinction for my other oncoming exams...

B.BaLL
sports do help me to relax and forget about all my worldly worries and i guess Basketball is one of that many sports. It has taught me certain values in which on is having sportsmenship.

Match report:

First match- Team won some "gangster" team by 12-6

Second match- vincent and I played two on two with some secondary school goers and beat them by a score of 12-2

Last match -vincent and I played against an experience chinese basketballer and we were eventually beaten by him with the score of 12-8 .

Anyway, winning and losing is just a part and parcel of a game, in times you win and times you lose..

"YOU KNOW PEOPLE IN TIMES OF STRESS YOU WILL TEND TO SMOKE BUT JUST TO INFORM YOU DON't DO THAT!! IT CAUSES BODILY HARM AND IT MAY INPURIFY YOUR SOUL!"

I'm in need of SLEEP NOW MUAHAHAHA!

GOOD NIGHT PEOPLE!!! :)
